What do you think of the Squier Jaguars?

I saw them at Guitar Center yesterday.

I wouldn't turn my nose up at one, but to me i would have much prefered them to resemble a proper jag with all the selectors etc.

At the price I don't think you can complain, unless you of course want a more traditional Jaguar... then save the bucks and buy something more suitable.
Depending on the type of person you are you could end up converting every component until the guitar is a totally different beast.

Completely underwhelming.

I played three at GC the other day. The frets were like razors. Not a comfortable play at all. Decent feel to the body, but for me half the fun of a jag is the switches.

Love my Fiesta Red one. Exactly what I wanted - a hardtail, Fiesta Red 24" scale with humbuckers and simple switching. I was going to mod it, but it works great as is. Sustains longer than my Les Paul.

I liked the one I played, although I much preferred the Jazzmaster; it's got clever concentric pots where the outer one clicks like a ten position switch, but I've got no love for humbuckers in a Jag (for aesthetic reasons as much as anything else). Nice neck on both these models too.

Didn't love the one I played, the Squier Jazzmaster was a bit nicer, but still neither of them made me want to buy them.

Sharp frets is a result of wood still drying sometimes... same as the cheapo Gibsons.
Easy fix though....
I particularly found the Jazzmaster amazing value for money. Not Crap...

Rod showed some pics of the bridge which are wackety-wack. Chips off the table until I know something else could be retrofitted.

Kinda meh. Not quite up to classic vibe standards. I didnt like the jag humbuckers, but the jazzmaster pickups were a'ight. I also really like the idea of cocentric knobs or whatever they're called, but the pots on these didn't blind my ears with screaming quality.

I played the jazzmaster at GC last weekend and I thought it sounded awesome. I still didn't like the bridge and the frets were sharp on that one too so it was quite uncomfortable to play. But with a fret job, and a new bridge I think it would be an awesome guitar.

I'd just get a Jagmaster.

I played one the other day and I really liked the neck. I wonder if quality control is going down at squier. It would be a shame after the CV series.

I used to own one of the newer model jagmasters and I hated it. It was a piece of garbage. It sounded like crap and while it was comfortable to play, it just never really felt right, it's hard to explain, it just lacked something. There was no life in it. These jaguars and jagmasters are much nicer than the jagmasters.

I thought you liked the ones we saw at the music store? The jazzy was nice and I didn't notice any sharp frets.

Aye, the necks are really nice. Which is annoying, because I don't like anything else on them.
