Anyone ever needed to ground their Jaguar pickup screws ?

Just fitted some avri jaguar pickups to my CIJ Jaguar.... they're growing on me very quickly !!

After fitting them whenever I touched the pickup screws there's a really nasty crackling / scratchy static-type noise.

I initially tried aluminium foil on the route of where the screws would enter the body hoping that'd link up to the black conductive paint better... is that even possible scientifically ?Well, on some screws it seemed to have improved but still wasn't good enough.

I then decided to strip a plastic coated metal tie wrap, twist each end around the screw threads... whilst the remainder of the wire touched the base of the of the claw... that has worked a treat and grounded everything nicely.

Is there any reason why I'd need to improve on this method ?

Should I purchase some more conductive paint and paint up the threads of the screws as well as improving the coating inside the route?

Get some shielding plates perhaps ??

I like to use ducting tape for my pickguards. It's easy to work with, overlap each piece and fold the edges over for good continuity.

ah just realised ... you mean conducting tape ??

Underneath the guard I've got aluminium foil... think it's quite good to eliminate interference through shielding but perhaps not for grounding purposes ?

I'm sorry, I forgot the Jaguar pickups don't screw through the pickguard like most guitars. I ain't ever worked with a Fender Jaguar or seen em naked, so I dunno the easiest way to ground them screws.

You could use some tongue rings around the screws.

Did Fender Japan clear coat over the conductive paint? I know on my Jagstang, they used a screw & tongue ring to ground the electronics to the body. I wouldn't spend $20 on shielding paint just yet, double check with a meter, see if your getting continuity on the shielding paint. If your not, you may need to scuff it, or screw into it to get a better connection.

Yeh, I use aluminum (ducting) tape on pickguards... not the duct/duck tape we all use on our cars
