what is a good price for a Squier Cyclone?....there is a black one on CL here at $150..... I am thinking about buying to refinish in LPB or Comp Orange


Let me know what is good on price for these and what u know about them...

I'd think a fair price based only on what you get for the money would be $100, but they are pretty rare and don't come up for sale often... which probably means $150 is a pretty good price.

I just emailed him and we will see, He is an hr and a half from me so I basically said I will drive to him if the price is negotiable.... but I was thinking more like 100-125 cuz its a Squier

ok, got him to $120 but I have to drive 80 miles to get it as he has no car...... decisions decisions

As rare as these are, I think the 80 miles may be worth it.

The fit and finish is on par with the fender version from what I remember of the reviews, just the standard squier issues (tuners, pups, pots). You could end up with a pretty sweet rocker with minimal investment.

$150 is too much unless (especially in black, *shudder*) you're just dying for one.

I think they were $199 new, so $120 used sonds kool. 80 miles, so that's 160 miles roundtrip? How great of mileage does your vehicle get? That's like another $25 right there. Probably still worth it for the guitar though I've only played one squier cyclone and it was a fun guitar

ok, Nick, ur on the same page as me here.... my truck gets about 23mpg on the interstate so I figured $30-35 for de gaz on the 160 mile round trip..... so with gas it would still be the $150.......... I cannot decide, I do not NEED it, but I have been acking to refinish a guitar in Comp Orange or LPB and this could be a good canidate for that itch....

Just keep in mind, these guitars don't have much in common with a Mustang other than the body shape. At the end of the day it's a 24.75" neck with a strat trem, strat style pickguard, and an H/S configuration. If that sounds like what you'd like in a guitar, then I'd say go for it. If you are only thinking of this because you really want a mustang in either LPB or Comp Orange and this kind of looks like one and seems the cheaper route, I would either save your money or buy a mustang body and start a project instead.

Lately I've adopted the mentality that if I have second thoughts, especially in a gear purchase, I don't buy it, but that's just me.

good moto, I do not need it so I emailed back and said I can only afford $100 cuz the gas of driving..... if he wants to sell he can call me if not then no worries........ I think my BT Jazzy covers most of the same territory anyway....

$100 for a black cyclone that you're planning to refin? mehbe.

Save your money and get a Fender Cyclone II with the Jag pickups. That is the Cyclone you want.

Absolutely agree with this. I think this applies to ALL purchases. Whenever i catch myself with doubts or get caught up in that anxiety causing quest for 'teh perfect cheap' purchase about something I'm unsure about it rarely ends up satisfactory.

I'd say it looks like a lot of hassle for not that great an overall cost. Obviously if you like it enough then go for it but personally I think the guitar is such a 'middle of the road' of various fender designs as to render it totally anonymous to me. Sure you could project it up to give it the sembllence of a personality but after costs of doing that you may as well save more and get something cool off the peg. aye.... projects seem to keep me from actually playing too

you should buy it if you get a decent price.

Even if it's not what you want, you know that someone here would love that guitar.
