i require a little help

i have a VOX cab that runs 60W @ 8Ohm (stereo) or 120W @16Ohm (mono)

my head is 100W at 8 or 16 Ohm ...
as of late i've been getting nothing out of the 16Ohm.. so naturally i figured something was up with the cab, when i took the back plate off, the jack looks fine, everything is soldiered on well.. testing with a voltmeter shows that it is fine..

i'm not confident in taking apart the head to take a look at it.

i tested the head at 8Ohms on my Traynor bass cab (800W @ 8Ohm) and ran it through the vox cab for a couple quick sets.. though i know that will burn through my tubes a lot faster (fuck does it get hot)

any thoughts shortscale?

i don't have another 16 Ohm cab to test it with sadly.. (though i should check the twin cab at the jam space... but i think it is 8Ohm)

misunderstood your question, sorry.

WOAH, WOAH... NOTHING out of the 16 Ohm output?

Like ever?

When you say you've tested the amp in your 8 Ohm Traynor cab, you mean trough the 16 Ohm out?
If so and you got some sound out of the output, problem's with your cab. I would rewire it.

yeah.. like Silence.. not like a measured drop by a couple decibels.

just happened last weekend, moved the gear to a gig on friday night, hooked everything up, turned on the amp, turned off the standby, and total silence..

so i hit the standby, changed to 8Ohms, and ran into the 8Ohm input on the cab
worked fine (ran a little hot.. but i expected it too)

no through the 8Ohm out, i tested it on a different cab before i ran it back into my vox cab..

the 8 & 16 ohm outs on the head are the same, but with a switch to swap the Ohm-ages.

okay. try running your amp on 16, trough the 8 Ohm cab input. (no big deal if it's only for a short time)
If you get sound out of your speakers, you know the problem is with your cab wiring for sure.

looks like the cab needs to be rewired...

as it works fine through my bass cab on 16 Ohms

and i realized i don't happen to have a jack kicking around that looks at all like that... could i use a mono jack like i would in a guitar? should i wander to radio shack and fight with the people there about what useless crap they have before i find a real electronics parts store

I used to work at the Source (ya know, what used to be Radioshack here in Canada), and am pretty sure you'll be hard pressed to find one of those jacks... but they do carry stereo jacks... but you're going to be paying nearly $10 for them, I think. The company's been moving away from carrying the parts and bits that made them what they are, for some reason.
Look elsewhere :P

i've had no luck finding an input jack like that one, but i do have a bunch of mono jacks floating around..
so hopefully i'll get focused enough to rewire this thing tonight

Look elsewhere :P

the goal is to get this done today..

however my head is at the jam space.

i have a 450watt bass head here, so when i do test it.. it will be very very quickly.

so no demos
