I plan on buying a Fender Champion 600 in new condition, take it apart so that I can learn how to muddle around in a tube amp, and then put it together into something like this:

My specific concern with the musicmaster bass amp is that there is something in there that is no longer working, last time I plugged it in and played with it, it shocked me repeatedly (it has a three prong cable) There is something wrong, and I don't know what the realm of possibilities is. It's in the "I don't know what I don't know" category.plesiosaurus wrote:that's a terrible speaker design.
if you know not to touch anything when it's plugged in and you learn how to drain caps then you won't kill yourself.
a new amp will have a pcb which will be much more confusing. musicmaster bass amps are very simple circuits and will be much easier to figure out and "muddle" with than a new pcb based amp.
rebuilding an amp into a chassis that looks that nice will be way more work than figuring out what's wrong with your musicmaster.
