I'm putting together a telecaster and I've always used cheap-ish parts. GFS and equivalent.
I think it's about time to step up the quality a bit, so I was wondering what you guys recommend as a mid-level/price pickup.
I'm talking telecaster bridge only.

I usually play in drop C, but I like a vintage sound. I was interested in a single coil sized humbucker, but I'm not generally a fan of humbuckers. I just thought it might be cool in a telecaster bridge. I was also thinking of rails of some kind but I'm open to suggestions.

So yeah, what's good that won't break the bank?

No need to spend more money. Get a GFS overwound Fatbody! It has the output equivalent of a humbucker, but still sounds like a beefy, awesome telecaster bridge pickup. It is my all time favorite pickup. I have one in my cheap WD music Telecaster kit. It sounds so awesome and it only costs like $32. GFS is awesome.

GFS are also my favorite. I have cool vintage rails in the bridge of my tele. I don't even like humbuckers, but I love this pickup.

I've owned Duncans and Lace, but GFS sound better and are cheaper. I'm really pining for a set of Surf 90s.

Having said that I love the GFS Fatbody pickup,
I haven't been really impressed with the GFS Neck humbuckers-sized pickups I've tried.
I've got a Liverpool neck and a Mean 90 and they sound sort of flat to me.
The mean 90 bridge on the other hand sounds great.

Those Surf 90's do look cool, but based on my opinion with the other neck humbucker sized pickups, I'm hesitant.

Liverpool is meant to copy the sound of a Ric toaster pickup and the mean 90 isn't a humbucker. (But i've heard great things about the Dream 90 too)

People love the PAF pickups and the Bigmouth ones too, pretty much all their stuff has a good following. Oh give it a shot!

You could always give Gibson $120 bucks for a Gibby-branded bucker.
