Ok,so riddle me this: Below is # 9 of the limited edition "The Johnny Ramone Forever" Mosrite Guitar. These where supposed to be a limited to only 30 guitars. Today I saw one on Ed Romans website and it is #597 (Link) . Huh? What is going on here?

Did he ever actually play a blue sparkle one? I know I've seen it in white, but I don't remember ever seeing another color besides the white one.

He had different ones besides the famous white one. He has a well known Mosrite II in blue(not sparkle) plus another Mosrite Ventures II in sunburst.

Later on he had some custom models from Mosrite in different colors but I think the favorites were again white and blue.

Ahhh... very cool! I hadn't seen any of those other ones, it's cool to see some Rickenbackers and a mustang on there too.

I love that website, it was very useful when i built the Franrite.

I'd love this guitar but its not financially possible, but one day i think i'll pick a Hallmark up.

THIS is just awesome concerning the white model.

Haha,wow,my friend Tom Hern took this photo (Link) . He was one of the founders of Punk Magazine.





I met Tom and Legs McNeil at a Yale Mixer back in 1978.

I think I figured it out. The the original "Johnny Ramone Forever" limited edition of was designed by Johnny and made by Fillmore in Japan. The ones that Ed Roman now sells are made in America(by who?) under contract by Ed.

Ed Roman has a horrible reputation, from what I hear it's well deserved.

From what I can gather Ed Roman was allowed to make Mosrites, but now Loretta Mosrite is also making custom order Mosrites and Semie's daughter, Dana Moseley, is a luthier and continues to build Mosrite guitars as well. It's pretty confusing and fragmented.

There was also a lot of Mosrites made in the U.S. but only for the Japanese market. If youw ant a new one, contact Dana... if you want a used one you'd be smart to educate yourself on them before making a purchase, lord knows what you could really be buying.

Yep, the bodies,necks and hardware are actually made by Fillmore in Japan but shipped to Dana Mosely in the USA for assembly. Dana custom winds all the pickups and these guitars are sold exclusively by Back Porch Music in Bakersfield.

Apparently the guitars being sold at Front Porch Music are the Dana Mosley guitars, but the bodies and necks come from FIllmore in Japan (So the Mom is suing them but the daughter does business with them? Where does Ed Roman fit in?

However, in all my searching, I've found the most lush Mosrites are made by EF Elliot Guitars. All handmade by himself in Oklahoma. Gorgeous Nitro finishes. He makes exact replicas, down to the smallest detail. His work is just stunning. He even casts his own vibramute tremolos. His website sucks but you can search the forums to see his work.

Honestly I can't stand 99% of the Mosrite demos on youtube, its all 60s surf rock, badly recorded as well.

Once I have my Mosrite it will be all In Utero era Teh Kurtz jams through a crown power amp, mesa boogie pre-amp and a marshall 4x12

I'm afraid to buy import Mosrites.The last one I got was an unplayable piece of crap.



If you see one like this...run away. Actually I think this one was a chinese copy.

Mosrite Ventures II, that's his famous blue one.

Hallmark guitars has done a couple of copies of it, first a Hallmark branded one and now one with Johnny's name on it.
