Headphone amps, suggestions?

Can anyone suggest a small (sort of clip on belt size thing) amp type thing to use exclusively with headphones?

I currently use an old zoom 9002 unit when meddling on guitar via the comfort of the sofa but its a bit frail these days and I really want to use the sounds from my pedals and not the 9002.

I'm looking for something that doesn't go straight into distortion when the guitar is just more than half volume and will actually keep the signal as it should be.

I wanted exactly what you were after and went for the Electro Harmonix Headphone Amp, but if I recall correctly there was huge amounts of hum when connected with the pedals. Not used it for yonks.... I assumed some kind of earthing issue ??

Are you looking for something like that?

You could always try the line six pocket pods. I created a clean tone and ran pedals through it and it worked fine. It ate batteries though so get an adapter. Also you can use it to record straight into your pc.

The EHX or Rockman are more thing I think I'm looking for. I just want a headphone amp that will do clean without distorting itself as most of them seem to do.
The Vox Amplug seems to advertise itself as based on various amps and amp dirt. The Rockman has too many effects built in same as the PODs.

I want all the effects and signal changing to come from my pedal board and then just a tiny amp with enough guts to take the signal chain without adding any distortion/OD and then dump it into some headphones.

I have one of those little Smokey amps, but as soon as the guitar's volume goes over halflway your into dirt time, which is not what I want as I can't run effects before it.
The Ruby sounds interesting, but wonder if its just the same as a Smokey?

The only one that seems to say it can do that is the EHX headphone amp, which is only just over £30 so I may see if I can try before buying.

I've got a Dano headphone amp that stays clean if you want it - little eStudio thing. I'm not using it, so you can has.

I was fooled by the fake speaker grill on the front (thought it maybe like a Smokey) and glared at it for 5 mins wondering Y U NO SOUND!!

the "output" worked and so did the "phones" then the sun came up and it was bright.

The Amplug AC30 is pretty cool. I'd nearly get the lead one for the delay effect though, as having 100% dry guitar in your ears can be disorientating.
