I wasn't even looking, but I have to try out this desert tan. Ah, what the hell. I haven't had a body to sand in a while. It's a pretty good deal with the guard and bridge.

Nice score. That unmolested body is a big plus as well.
The bottom of the pickguard looks like a crime scene with all that red paint.
At least I hope it's red paint.

I just finished touching up a 1930s Kalamazoo. My schedule is freeing up. It's the one like this one. It's got the devil's fingerprints on it. Mine is probably a smaller model. It had a split in the side and when I fixed it I had a tough time making it look natural again. I tried using oil based stain to hide the repair, but it didn't work with lacquer. One day it occurred to me I could get a touch up lacquer pen and a can of tobacco brown. Man it looks good.

Definitely not blood, old dried up blood looks quite different than that.

looks quite cool as is, but can see how you'd want to tart it up. brass nut?

I used a brass nut on the stratmaster that Robert built. It makes it more resonant. But I doubt I could find one that size. Normally I would try to make a faithful restoration since it's close to being intact, but I am unlikely to score a pickup. So if not the real thing, what's the next best thing?

Most people would like a more powerful pickup. I could put a Tele neck in it.

Strat middle pickup. Or jagstang neck pickup.

This thing is little but nothing to be ashamed of. I almost wish I hadn't ordered the paint.Stewart was right on about the look. I like it in person.

Uh, but it looks like there may not be ANY paint left on it, which is why it's got a few nasty gashes in it. I am planning on spraying it with amber to look like Fullerplast, and then going really lightly with Desert Sand and clear. It needs to be protected, but I think I can do it very gingerly.

I have started some light sanding to see what's what. I won't be able to do anything with it for a few weeks, but I will post progress pics. It uses mini pots, which I despise.

you could try steaming out small dents

I had full size pots in my 63. They're a tight fit but they do fit.
