New band, new album: BRIGHT NIGHTS...

Post by avj »

Hey everyone!

I've been part of a new project for about a year now, and we finally gave it a name: Bright Nights. We've been writing and playing shows, and we self-recorded an EP earlier this year with the intent to finish it later. Later has finally come, and I'm about to send the five songs to the great Carl Saff for mastering, with a proper physical and digital release to follow when he's done—as well as a better web presence.

While we wait for Saff's magic, we decided to throw a bit of limiting on the track and release it as-is and replace it with the mastered version later. The song is called "Timbatook", and you can have a listen here if you'd like:

I also uploaded our finished version of XTC's song "Making Plans for Nigel", which I posted about a few months ago. I haven't shared this anywhere else, as I'm also waiting for the proper rights clearance so we can include it on the physical and digital releases.

As always, I'm eager to hear any feedback or nerd out for several thousand words about the gear or recording techniques. Seriously. I love that stuff.

Cool stuff, I particularly like the high synth lines towards the end of the track. Overall I thought it sounded like what Talking Heads might have sounded like if they had got a dose of teh Rock...

Ps: the cover song wouldn't play through me phone so the above was written having only heard your own tune.

Pps: I'm a talking heads fan so the above should be taken as a good thing.
