Printing large prints

I have a couple of ideas for things I would like to have printed and framed. I'm going to have to find a way to create them (which I'll probably need some help doing) but I would say that I'm looking at getting a couple of things printed in black and white on something like A2 size paper.

What is the best way to go about this? To pick a frame and work from the sizing of that?

Alternatively if someone was willing to do it, I'd be happy to pay someone to make and print these things and then to sort frames myself after.

Ikea for frames, me for large format prints.

I took a look at the Ikea website last night but couldn't see anything large enough. For the frame I want square edges, solid colour black, as little detail as possible. A bit like this.

In one frame I want the fibonacci sprial

And in the other a slightly simplified version of Darwin's sketch of the tree of life which I think I'm going to have to try and create in some program (maybe illustrator?)

Both to have crisp clean lines and just be single colour black on a plain white background. Then a small edging of the same sort of card as the print. I'm not sure what that part is called, but the bit that goes in between the print and the frame.

That's called mountboard, or just the mount. Got all that stuff here - what colour mount do you want?

This frame is close to what I want to use but it is slightly out of proportion. It is meant for a 12x16" picture but the spiral would need something with a ratio similar to 12x19.4" and then the Darwin picture in the same size frame. I guess the thing to do is look for a frame of that style and a similar sort of size but with the right proportions.

I want the mount to be the same colour as the background of the picture. Just flat white.

Will see if we've got any in the shop later on. If not, Hobbycraft etc. WE CAN DO THIS.

(although I'm shit at cutting mounts).

These guys are great for frames... and fairly well priced in comparison to some places.
I ordered a bunch of Nielson frames from them.

I see some examples there that look fitting, for what you're after.

a steel rule, a steady hand and a brand new scalpel blade (not a craft knife) are the way to go. i'm sure you know that though.

We've got a mount cutter, but also perfectionist technical colleagues who snigger at my puny attempts...

"Oh, you've gone for a 33º chamfer..."

Framing people at Michael's could cut the mounts for you, not sure how much it would cost you but the board itself is like $1.50 for something like 24"x30".
