Squier Jaguar

all of you haters can shove it. i think it's a great guitar. so what if it doesn't have all of the features of a high end fender. it's a $300 guitar. i happen to like the bridge and only having to raise the two studs to raise the action is a plus for me because i'm lazy and i think it's a pain in the ass to have to adjust 12 screws if i want to adjust my action. that's also why i like the adjusto-matic bridge on my cp jag. the only thing that annoys me about the bridge is having to completely slack the string, unscrew the screw holding down the saddle, grab hold of the saddle and move it back and forth and hope that it's in the right place and do then tighten the screw back down and tighten the string back to pitch and test.

i completely disagree with people who say the jagmaster is better. when i got my jagmaster there was a list of things i wanted to change. the tuners didn't hold worth a crap, the pickups sounded like crap and i swapped the entire bridge assembly. the only thing i did to the jaguar was remove the tones and use the pots as coil splits, adjust the pickup height and set the intonation and it was perfect. the stock pickups sound great, love the vintage style tuners, the nut's cut great and the bridge works like it should. my only gripe about the nut is that the a couple of the slots were actually a little too snug, most noticeably on the low e string, but it was easily fixed by filing the slot out a little with the string. my only real complaints are the skunk stripe, which i'm not a fan of on necks with rosewood fretboards and the lack of chrome, which really completes the look on a jaguar. i'm still debating on whether or not to add chrome control plates or not.

here's a couple of pics

Now that IS interesting... I love the fact that they left the actual jaguar routes.

I too like that . Room for mods and a lot less routing. Now them screws for the bridge ..... Can you fit a Tune-o-Matic on that ? Hmmmmmmmm.

probably not, but you can likely fit an adjust-o-matic in it.

dude on offset put a jazzmaster bridge on without much trouble.

It's getting more and more obvious that Squier put that Strat style output jack there just to fuck with us.
It's like ooo, you could totally turn this into a legit Jaguar without much skill or effort but.... Yeah screw it. Here's a big fucking hole for you.

I can totally understand that.... u can still find them cheap if ur lucky

I actually like the VM Jaguars...great modding platform as RVB has shown..... my only 2 gripes on them are the bridge and on the last one i played the body felt light, like it was neck heavy compared to a normal Jag.... I do not remember if the first one I played felt like this or not

I really don't see what makes these better than a good Jagmaster. I got one of them 25.5" scale Jagmasters for $165 on Ebay (with a bunch of accessories, what a deal!) and it's been quite lovely for me. I keep hearing that the later models are shit, though, but this one is beyond reproach. The two point trem is a delight (though I have it locked) and a surprise. I was expecting a vintage-style Strat trem. The tuners are very smooth, some of the smoothest tuners I've ever had. I was able to put a 22-fret Standard series Strat neck on it, no problem, so now I can hit the high D. The guitar is excellent, and it takes a lot of standard Strat parts so the "upgrade" path is available for those who want it, and the pickups ain't even bad, though I'm switching out soon for Duncan Jazz/Custom. And the geetar certainly looks better than any Squier Jaguar/Jazzmaster out right now.

That was the Ebay photo. I'd really like to have a Vista Jagmaster, though.
