So this is my parent's gift to me for my 21st birthday coming up! It's the last "birthday gift" I'll get and I'm so glad it was a instrument like this that will give me a lifetime of enjoyment.

So we went to a few places and I played everything from entry level Martins, Ibanezes, Takamines, to high end Martins, Taylors and Gibsons. I even played a few Seaguls which I really liked as well. This one was actually the first one I picked up and it sounded like a winner right from the start. I played everything else with an open mind and nothing really compared. Most Martins, which I have always loved, just boomed and didn't have much definition. Most of the Gibsons sounded a tad better to me than the Taylor but didn't play as easily and didn't sound twice or three times as better for the price.

It plays perfectly, action is prefect, 100% craftsmanship all round. Frets are amazingly well dressed and leveled. The sound is very well balanced, sounds juuuuuust right. I really like the electrics as well, It uses the same ES-T system as their top of the line models. It has a bridge mic and a soundboard mounted mic that you can turn on and off, has phase reverse for stage/di, bass treble volume controls that work really well.

$718 for the guitar after tax, also got a monster cable for my electric rig . I seriously doubt you'll find a better acoustic for that kinda skrilla

I love Taylors. They're the highest quality factory-made guitars in the world IMO.

They do sound a bit brighter than the Gibson/Martin standard, but that makes them easier to record.

Congrats on the new Taylor. My first Taylor guitar was a blue 614ce that my wife bought me before we were married. Still my favorite. I also have a Baby Taylor Rosewood, which is the same kind of laminate rosewood yours is made from. It's were I got my forum name from.

They make the best acoustics IMO. Just make sure it doesn't dry out. My friend had 110 that got two cracks in the top cause he hung it on the wall during the winter. Keep it in the case when you are not playing it and it will be fine.

If you have any questions about Taylor guitars, just let me know. I know their guitars and production techniques pretty well. the thing you will love is Taylors really stay in tune unlike some other high end guitars.

Nice dude! I am also a huge fan of Taylor acoustics! I have had my 414CE for 6 and a half years, and during that time, I haven't even considered another acoustic, I love it so much! Listen to Taylornut, I've always kept mine in the case, and I never had a problem with it. When I lived in NC, I guess it was just more humid, even inside all the apartments I lived in over the years, so I never had to humidify mine. But when I moved to Atlanta, the air seems a lot more dry, especially in our apartment. Around the time that Taylornut posted about his friend's Taylor that got the cracks from being under-humidified, and he posted some videos from Taylor's website, I noticed the top of my acoustic was flattening out, and there was a tiny, tiny line down the top that was starting to appear more apparent than before (I might have been paranoid, but I swear I saw it!). I bought THIS HUMIDIFIER and I just dampen the sponge, and put it in the guitar and leave it in it's case, and it has cleared the problem of the top flattening out right up! I also don't notice the line down the middle anymore either.

Taylor has some great videos on their website for how to clean and take care of your guitar too. I followed their instruction video when I cleaned my fretboard up, and my Taylor plays as good as new!

Nice. Taylors play great. I personally am not a fan of the newer expression system pickups, but you can not find a better playing guitar than a taylor from a large manufacturer.

I plan on keeping it in its case but I will definitely pick up a humidifier just to be sure. I'm going to baby this thing for a while, usually I have the "break it in" mentality but id be turn if anything happened to it.
