... why they so expensive all of a sudden? They were about £40 new tops, there is now one on ebay going for £80 with 5 days left to run.

Anywho after years of avoiding Big Muffs I now find myself with 2, a MBM IC which I bought a few months back & a Russian I picked up for £30, both sound great in thier own ways. I may flip the Russian if they go for siully money & build a new one with the proceeds.

Trends innit. All I know is that the Green Muff and '78 IC Muff I make are my most popular pedals.

Because legend has it that David Gilmour uses them and that excites the blues lawyers. I was in a Macari's on Denmark Street a while back and a guy came in trying to sell his to them, I told him to ebay it as they go for good prices - I should have taken it off him for £30 and ebayed it myself.

If it's because of Thurston the guys buying these are going to shit when they find out he no longer uses one, nowadays he plays a Sitori Sonics Harem Fuzz.

I remember when the original green muff with the chunky footswitch was out... I wanted one just because of the way it looked, but ended up thinking better of that urge... wish I hadn't!

My friend Alex had one that he used in his first band in high school. He said it broke when he dropped it down the stairs so he bought a black one. I was saying "I wouldn't have thought this would've broken going down the stairs" and he went "Me too!!" and I said "basically because of this tough-looking green colour" and he went "ME TOO!!! And the military transistors!"

Anyway, could've just been the way he was setting it, but it sounded TERRIBLE. Maybe I just had too much hearing at that age.

I wonder how much the 1980 Deluxe models go for these days? I sold mine for £80 about 3 years ago.

Even the black russian muffs are a bit overpriced. I was lucky finding mine for $40.

I really love my russian muff. But i bought it new for little money back in the 90ies. Prices about 300 euros i would never pay for it – but, i would never miss it 8)

I've played many of these Russian Muffs, the best ones that I have played were the earlier green versions in the heavy box, not the other version that's a bit lighter, though not by much. I have played one black one that sounded almost as awesome as my number one, however it was an early black transition model in the 2nd heavy box with a smaller switch and earlier graphic. They basically all vary WIDELY. I don't think quality control at their factory was doing its job, some sound dead, some sound amazing. These are huge because of the 90's, thank Pavement, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins(even though they used the IC muffs and a host of others riding that "alternative" wave. You can find them on the CL for reasonable prices if you check daily, but act fast.
