Fender’s Old-Growth Redwood Telecaster is hewn from reclaimed centuries-old Northern California redwood that has aged into a fantastically strong and resonant tonewood. Salvaged from various buildings and other structures, the wood bears the historical knots, nail holes, bruises and other badges of more than a century of well-seasoned use, giving an individual stamp and unique appeal and character to each guitar. The result is a highly distinctive take on the venerable Telecaster.
That's so freakin' cool! Reclaimed redwood? Wonder what that sounds like and how much it weighs. And how limited is the stock? I had no idea that buildings were ever built with redwood, nor that they tore down these historic buildings and hooked Fender up with first dibs on dumpster diving. Anyone have anymore info on this?
My grandparents' house is completely lined - walls and ceilings - with old-growth redwood. Thousands of board-feet, at least a couple inches thick. It was pretty popular back in the day.
That's really awesome. I hope it sells well enough to stay in production. Recycled and reused materials make me happy.
I wonder what the impact on the tone is. Lots of old acoustic instruments are thought to be better sounding because of the greater density of the wood used in making them.

Of course, it's PGS, so it sounds incredible, but... it sounds incredible

A week after PGS posted their video I went to see how fuckin' expensive it was... it was already gone. I don't think too many were made.

totally, i like this lil bit
"You tell me what you want – in as much or as little detail as feels right to you. I’ll try to convince you that you don’t really need a Bigsby. You’ll insist. Once I have a pretty clear idea of your DREAM GUITAR, I’ll send you a quote and a spec sheet for your approval. The quote is good for 30 days. Maybe on the 31st day I’ll jack up my prices like crazy."

seen some ol' wood Jazzmaster replacement bodies on ebay. That stuff they float from the bottom of swamps, I wonder how heavy it is if it's been stunk to the bottom of the swamp for so long. Reclaimed lumber is cool, if you don't own a metal detector... use someone else tool's remember watching Norm (this old house) scan all his reclaimed stuff before he ran it through his planer.
"Will you install a Kaoss Pad / Sustainer Pickup / Fog Machine in my guitar?
While I’m aware that I’ve developed a reputation for “He’ll do ANYTHING! there are some things that just make me want to put my head in the sand / oven. I’ll try to be honest about it without crushing your dream."
Haha!
