Hi Gator - there's a rule about selling and buying outside of the classifieds section which is only available after a member has taken time to contribute a number of posts to the forum without resorting to brief one or two word posts nor overly resurrecting long dead threads. All those things are the fastest ways to getting up the noses of established members and is considered bad etiquette on virtually all internet forums. If you keep all that in mind you'll find it a cool place to be.

i understand...just think its quite unfair to have to post 50 times before i can search on this site for a guitar ive been looking for.....there is a lot of good info and posts on this site and i believe that its good to put limits to weed out people that dont belong... i just think that 50 is pretty steep for some people that may have busy lives.....ive been coming to the site as a nonmember for a few years now and i think if i had signed up when i first saw this site i still would not have 50 posts.....thanx

It's not really unfair; it's a form of protection for both buyer and seller. If people have to get involved with the community before pitching their sales or trying to acquire gear, it lets the people involved assess one another and determine whether or not they're willing to take the inherent risks associated with buying/selling over the interwebz without any kind of safety net.
It's incredible how much information you can glean about a person's character from a few messageboard posts.
Having been a visiting non-member for years, I'm sure you've likely seen this explained before

My thoughts too. If you spend some time here, it's really easy to rack up hundreds of posts which are meaningful, and aren't just used to race to 50 ASAP. As for you being too busy to get to 50, there are tons of folks on here with full time jobs and families who have thousands, DOZENS of thousands of posts even.
Anyway, if you come here talk to guitar folk and don't take yourself too seriously, you'll fit in no bother. If you're here just to buy, then Ultimate Guitar and Harmony Central are thatta way.

yes i totally agreee...however i just think that 50 is a very large number.....i myself like to browse and every now and then make a comment or join a conversation..... and as far as buying and selling goes.....paypal has verified members to eliminate those kind of scams.....im not trying to be difficult sorry if it seems that way......

Sorry gator, dems the breaks. The forum isn't a sales service for the world, its a dedicated forum for dedicated people built on proven familiarity with each other, mutual trust, and respect. And massive flaming arguments. The trading rules simply reflect and support that ethic as much as is possible. No one gets any special treatment in that regard, no matter their post-count.

If shortscale tickles your rage-strings for long enough in this thread I have no doubt you will have the requisite post count for the classifieds by the end of the week.

My advice is to stick around, contribute and get your 50 posts whatever happens. It's a great community and you won't regret it. Also you'll get trust and respect in return. Because even if you have the 50 posts it doesn't mean people will trade with you if they suspect you're shady.*
*I use the 'universal you', not 'you personally'

Where in Texas are you located? We have 3 or 4 Texas members who live mostly in the DFW area.
