My Gibson Explorer GA-18t amp has been modded with power amp out/speaker in cables to use with an attenuator. Which attenuator should I get.

Makes sense but I read here( Link ) it is 14 watts? It has an 8 ohm Jensen P10R speaker. It is the original speaker. The amp is original except except for the cable mod and a new 3 prong power cord. It also had the "death cap" was removed.

Below are some GA-18t gut shots from the Telecaster forum. It is not my amp
but it is the same model owned by markr1. His is a '59 and mine is a '60 so I think
they are basically the same(except his is in better condition).

Basically the attenuator has to offer the same ohmage as the speaker and be rated at least as high (although you want to have it higher, really) as the amp's wattage.

I think this would be a good option. They are well priced and you could get the 25W version which is cheaper still...

In fact you could use that on any amp with the same ohmages up to 25W or 50W depending on what you go for. I want one myself but they're expensive as hell in the UK.

i was also gonna suggest the weber mass series with the speaker motor. seems like a radass idea.

my pal bobby in MD had two of those explorer amps. they are kinda cool.

I think this guy's attenuator looks awesome. But I am a sucker for light effects. Shiny and glowy things make me happy.Swart

WTRed, did you end up buying the Weber?

I have a Rivera K55 that I can't turn up past 2.5 at practice without killing people, but it doesn't hit the sweet spot until about 4. I'm looking into attenuators and without shelling out $500 for the Rivera Rockcrusher, I'm torn between the THD Hot Plate and the Weber Mass 100. I like the Mass 100 because it has an ohm selector, where the THD you have buy specific for your ohmage.

Just wondering how the Weber affected your tone and how it was built.
