Lake Placid Blue Pawn shop. totally unexpected, local Guit center has only ever had 1 duo sonic . I had never touched or seen a Mustang in person. Guitar Center had the perfect storm. An original slab 65, a Squier Duo Sonic , and the brand new Pawnshop special in LPB. LPB is so boring on Strats and Teles, really worked for me on this Mustang though .
I like crummy old things, the 65 was olympic white, tort PG, pretty solid, one pu didn't work. It did sound good with the working PU. That I knew could be rewired but it would be wrong to refinish, the Squier Duo Sonic I envisioned as a project guitar, but only if it was 200 or so used. The LPB Pawnshop was just dazzling. As I have bonus money coming my way, it was a slam dunk. At one point I plugged it in to the amp, then the Duo Sonic at the same settings and there was no comparison. The Squier sounded like mud on mud. The Pawnshop I could actually tell the sound differences on the different settings, very nice growl

I've never owned a real Fender before. The thing is small, feels like a travel guitar, but the dimensions were about the same for all three guitars. It feels solid and jewel like, not flimsy or like a toy. The mint green PG is awesome

Of course wifey's not happy but she is still speaking to me, sort of.

I have the Fender spaghetti strap too, but that tweed is very nice, and surprisingly cheap

Nice one, the mint pickguard matches LPB beautifully.

That is what impressed me the most about the guitar was the pickups and that each setting wasn't redundant. I really want to buy the pickups for my Jag-stang project.

These seem like awesome guitars, just wish they had a Trem and the body was a little bigger.

Is the HH Classic Player Jag pretty similar in terms of sound? I think the HBs they use are slightly different though. Does this coil split well?

I think the Enforcers in the Jag are okay and split they could do the job. The mini Enforcer Wide range pups in the Mustang are the best coil split I have heard though. That's why I want them for the Jag-stang and then I can still have the Mustang tremolo.

I've heard of people putting them in the HH Jag alright. They're actually a little pricey to get off eBay though, or else I would have considered going down that route.

Now I'm going to have to learn what those switch positions do. I knew I was going to get a Mustang for a while. I was more inclined toward a Japanese Re issue, but there I was and it just felt right. The body I love, as I said it feels compact but not insubstantial. I'm glad they didn't have the CAR version in stock, the decision would have given me fits. Oh, I say CAR is so common but my eyes still pop every time I see one.
And now I need a real amp, not this tissue box I've been squawking through.

The center position on each pickup is humbucker and the other positions are the individual coils for the humbucker. You can chose the inside coil, the outside coil or both together.

how did the 9.5 radius feel next to the 7.25 radius of the other mustang?

Thanks for the switch position info. That explains a lot. As far as the radius stuff, I've read about it but I can only tell if I can play the thing. This was just a golden opportunity, I had to take it.
I have much to learn. Or I might just stare at it.

As far as the 9.5 vs 7.25 radius the 65 felt much the same in my hands as this new one, I'm not very discerning.

its gorgeous and it does feel really nice-- even tho its tiny it just feels good in my hands-- I go and "visit" one in the local Guitarcentre every week-- it kills me that they didn't mismatch the pickups though-- isnt the point of the whole "prawn shop" concept to make some weird-o frankenpenis guitar?

the coil splitting didn't really do it for me tho-- I would have preferred a paf + p-90 configuration
