Drum Machines

Anybody use a drum machine or some sort of drumming software? I ask because I lack the talent to drum myself and playing to the lack of any sort of beat probably isn't doing me any good.

I use to have an Alesis HR`16
it was fun as hell.

Roland TR-505 for me. Not as cool as the 808 but it sounds great and holds its own. Put it through a few effects and its golden.

I had one of those when they first came out. It's mostly acoustic drums/percussion and doesn't have any onboard effects or much in the way of electronic or classic drum machine sounds. It's one of the easiest and most user-friendly pieces of gear I've ever used.

You can usually find them for $50 or less.

I currently have a Boss DR-660 and you get those for around $75 or so. Early-90s drum machine with everything from standard drums to big, gated cock-rock drums to some of Roland's classic 808/909 kits. I rarely use it, though.
