NGD strats

Post by Thomas »

I picked up the Mex strat from Sonicboom yesterday (thoroughly nice chap).

Image

Also picked up a £40 Squier for parts. I'm quite shocked how good it is. Nice neck, pups sound good, really well seup 2 point trem, alder body etc. Bought it fron a girl on Gumtree that bought it a year ago to learn and never touched it. Still has the plastic on the guard and the black is very subtly metallic.

I seem to have real trouble gelling with Mexican strats, it's like the back of the neck is too flat. Mix that with the 9.5 radius and it takes some getting used to.

I really miss my '62 ri that I traded with Hurb.

Both look like bloody good bargains, good score!
Not really a Strat fan, but you've done well.

Pretty strats. I think my nephew has the double fat strat version of your black one, the way you described the finish matches his.

The white one looks so pretty but if it were me and I had those two guitars I'd probably put a black guard on the white one just to counter the black one, but that's only because I'm weird and sort of OCD

I love me some mexican Fenders, the white strat was very tempting.

I have the Hurb strat now, it's found a good home. That and a red lace sensor in the bridge so I can get my Corganz on.

It sounds great with the Classic 20. Fit and finish is great on it too, way nicer than the last one I had. As ever its always down to the neck with me, i prefer them a bit "neater" more compact feeling.

Ah my old '62.. I totally regret getting rid of that.

I had a hard time acquiring two instruments at once, I couldn't stop playing them back and forth!

Lookin' good, Thomas. Lookin' good...

Not a keeper tho?

I'm now 1 x Jazzmaster, 1 x Strat, and 1 Les Paul Junior lighter after a 5-day selling frenzy with no buying.

Looks lovely... I had one black/white Mexi standard and it was really a good guitar... was one from new logo batch 8) (dig those better than the old ones fitted with silver logo).

Yeah i had one of the silver logo ones. It wasn't too good. So i sold it ladt week. The guy must have not been too keen on it either as i noticed hes put it on Gumtree today. While this one was way better it is now currently residing with a frieng. I think it has to be 7.25 radius or its a no go with me on a Strat. I got his Mex Jaguar from him.

Weird thing is the Jag is flatter radius but much more comfy. Probably due to the shape of the back of the neck.

I have a 7,25" Strat, and in fact I prefer that radii on Fenders... 8) (having few of the 9,5", I'm not much of this/that radii guy, for me it's the vintage frets that are coming with 7,25" radius that make a deal for me not sure if they fit those to any other radii).

sorry, I missed your post. Nah not a keeper. I dunno what it is about strats with that radius. I just cant get on with them. It's probably because my main strat was that Japanese 62ri for so many years. Every other strat i've tried (and thats a lot) come up wanting.

With all the selling and no buying surely you have your eye on something?
