Squier Super Sonic Update

Post by bubbastain »

Nothing major. Just informing ya'll that my SS has become my favorite guitar. Since starting the guitar many years ago, I've played a Kramer Baretta, Charvel(still have both, though the Kramer was run over by a car 15 years ago :x ) and Jackson until maybe 5 months ago when I made a drastic switch to a Fender Cyclone. Really like it and sold the Jackson. On a whim, I bought the Super Sonic and damn that thing is just so comfortable to play. It's got a SD JB in the bridge and Jazz in the neck. Rewired slightly for just one volume knob. Sounds great, feels great, isn't very heavy and is just cool. Gotta be a little more accurate with chording near the nut so I don't mute a string unintentionally. Tuned to Drop C with 10-60 strings. Only thing it needs is better tuning keys and a new nut cut specifically for my strings. Killer guitar.

Both my Cyclone and Super Sonic are in near perfect condition. I kind of wish they weren't because I know that once I start playing out again, they will get plenty of dings, dents and scratches.

While the silver sparkle is my least favorite color on the Super-sonic, it's still super cool. Silver Sparkle is the most common one I have seen The Blue Sparkle is my favorite followed by the white.

My silver one has yellowed to gold, which looks pretty cool. I bought the blue one first, and I change my mind on it daily (looks cheap / looks awesome). My white one has been modified with a white control plate, white humbuckers and white plastic button tuners, so it is pretty white. My black one is modded to be blacked out.
My coral one is my favourite at the moment, though.

I've never played one, sadly. Great collection.

If you still think the blue one is cheap, you can always send it me so you don't have to look at it for a while. :D

But then I wouldn't have one in each colour...
Besides, it isn't stock anymore. A set of Fender Custom Shop Fat 50s, an out of phase push pull volume knob, and a stuttering kill switch button. You wouldn't like it.

That just means you have some extra Super-sonic parts you don't need anymore

Yeah, the neck is just great. Any other guitar have the same neck dimensions? Guitar is light too. Much lighter than my Cyclone.

That white-white-white one sure looks delicious to me.
