*EDIT* This has now changed to a double Duo build. Scroll down a few posts to see the current deets. The plan for this half will remain the same. :)
Well the 1960 MM body I picked up cheap arrived today. It's in great nick, well apart from the routing that's been done. The good thing about that is I can do whatever the hell I want to without getting the "fucking up teh vintage" guilt. The dude sent the guard along with it too so that'll give me something to mess around with. It still has the cool old strap buttons which is n nice.

I've picked up a few bits for the build. I have a neck coming from Mages and I got a Toronado bridge from Stuart today too so I think I'm either gonna go string through/Toronado or fixed bridge Jag/Stang with a stop tail. I've also got a Gibson Hummer for it tho I might take the Duncan Distortion outta my SG for this. I think the zebra pup will look great with the guard. I have some sweet black witch hats that'll go well with what I'm after. I could try to find an oldschool bridge for this but I'm trying to do this project on the cheap so I'm aiming for under 200 for the completed beast.

I just have to pick up a few bits and bobs.

1.Humbucker surround/ring + springs+screws.
2. Decent neck pup + black Robroe.
3. Pickguard screws.
4. 2 way Toggly and assorted wires
5. Push/pull pot or mini switch. to split the hummer.

Here is the starting point and a shot of the routing that's under the guard:

That's not terrible. I would have liked it better without the dugout on the side. You can always make use of the extra pickup slot or switch hole. That switch hole looks factory. Duo?

Good starting point. At least all the routing is under the guard :)

Nah, I just liked the way it sounded hahaha! I'll prob go for a meaty bucker in the bridge WRHBs are hard to come by. At least on the budget I'm trying to bring this in on.

Alright, this has turned into a double project. My other half is learning guitar and I've managed to put together 2 shells so now she can have her own guitar. One is the '60 Duo (hers) and the other is a '65 Duo body with a '65 Mustang neck (for me). All the parts are here/ in the mail.

Here's a pic of the bodies. I'll be going for the OG colour (Daphne) or sherwood green/OTM. Helen might be going for the grain with hers. It'll be all black pups etc.

Both will be string through.

Two very nice projects. The '65 being my favorite. Looking forward to seeing these come together. 8)

All the parts are here apart from the single coils and the MM neck. Once they arrive the Duo/MMaster can get wired up/set up as it's being kept with the wood look. As for the Duo/Mustang I'm gonna drill out the string-through holes tonight then start painting it. Here are a couple of mockups, the MM needs a new guard so I can move the neck pickup a bit closer to the neck:

The MM neck has arrived from Mages too, so now I can put that guitar together. I need to do a little routing for the hummer pup legs so I can lower the pup into the body a bit more. It's sitting a touch nigh at the moment. I think my Duncan Distortion might have shorter legs...

The Duo body is now dark green too. Pics to follow when I get home. (no I'm not posting from the toilet at work)

Duo is done! I put the SD Distortion in there, it has shorter legs so is a better fit in the body. It matches the colour of the guard well too. I cut the guard to fit the strat style hardtail on there. Better pics to come.

This is the colour that the Duo/Stang is being painted with:

Done for now, I'm gonna switch out the pups at some point, these ones have bar magnets and sit a bit high in the body.

Loving the green, what did you use to paint it with? Looks a bit British Racing Green, which I'm planning on painting my JM project.

Cheers guys. It was actually clover green. Its a honda car colour. its meant to be a touch more blu but it aint. i'm happy with it tho. white base ubder it and hardly any clear so it should wear in pretty fast.
