So my les paul and musicman and now gone, sold off to happy japanese customers via yahoo auction.
So i decided to pick up this beauty:
Now, I NEVER thought i would like PRS due to it's association with nu metal, but this guitar is the real deal! It has all the tone of my les paul, with more pickup switching options and the playability of the musicman. It even has better sustain that my les paul did.
I also picked up an interesting Jem, which i posted about a few months ago.
I know, i know. 80's wankerness. Theres absolutely nothing しぶうい about this guitar. However i watched one go for 5,000USD on ebay recently and thought it would be a good idea to pick one up for relatively cheap here with the intention of possibly selling it in the states upon my return.

Cool stuff man.
I actually quite like the Jem. Is that an original Floyd on it? It looks to be an odd setup if it is.
Good scores.

Thanks man, the bridge is actually the original ibanez edge. The weird metal thing is the bridge guard, which is very rare. Unfortunately, the seller removed and lost the guard.
The jem in the above pic is in pristine condition, mine is bit more worn. They were made for only 1 year, in 1987.
They're all signed and numbered on the back by steve vai, going up to 777.

i think i'd enjoy playing the PRS more, but still go for the ibanez, cause i love everything about their looks other than the handle thingie.

I quite like the handles on Jems. It adds something practical.
It's like sticking handlebars on the back of a bike just in case one day you fancied riding backwards or something.

I love how JJLipton's taste in guitars is so different to most of this board. And the fact he's a quality shredder.

That JEM is so aggressive that you can't even hate it. Good job.

well in terms of just straight up quality, the prs is the winner by far. The jem has this cool thin/bright gilbert paf pro tone that i dig though

I don't like either of these guitars, but think I would like having them around, if that makes sense. They look excellent.
Wouldn't it be worth trying to get the guard whilst you are in Japan? Surely the guitar is worth more with than without, and it'll be easier/cheaper to get in Japan than America? Or are they really that rare that you won't be able to?
