Well people, there's one glitch in the otherwise happy relationship I have with the CP Jaguar I bought a couple of weeks ago - the rhythmn circuit output is really weak. Volume was waaayy low, compared to the Jags used to have. I did a DC resistance check before work this morning, and it only measured about 3K (that's really low). It looks like I may have a short in the wiring. My feeling is that it's not in the rhythmn circuit, but in the wiring feeding to and from the rhythmn circuit, since checks of the rhythmn circuit componentry showed everything to be working OK, and when I remounted the rhythmn circuit assembly (the plate & the components) back on the guitar, everything (even with the rhythmn circuit, and pickup selector switches turned off), read a dead short resistanc-wise (it should have read open circuit)!!!!

So, I'll be pulling the STRINGS!, and the PICKGUARD OFF (grrrrr!!) to do some troubleshooting, and repair work tonight, after work. Could somebody check the DC resistance on their Jag, with the rhythmn circuit engaged, so I know what value I should be seeing?

P.S. - yeah, I know, I've only had the guitar for a couple of weeks, and I should just return it to zZounds for a replacement, but it's more of a hassle than it's worth, since I've thrown out the box it was shipped in, and I've replaced its original strings. The repair really isn't that hard to do (other than having to go through the hassle of restringing a guitar, only a week and a half after I put on new strings). So, I'll just fix it myself.

well, congrats on the new guitar, but sorry you're having difficulty with it! if i had a meter, i'd check mine. . .

I have a resistance meter but no Jag to check . . .

sadly my cp is an HH so it has no rhythm circuit to check..

and i've disabled the rhythm cut in my 90s cij.. so.. good luck!

Pots wide open you should be getting more like 7-8K - check nothing is shorting out around the plate.
