Wah sweep

Colorsound wahs are known for having a wide sweep range, but the dead one I've just had in to fix has been set (actually a 1974 Wah-Fuzz-Straight) so that it can never get really bright.
I'm trying to get hold of the guy to check this is how he likes it. Maybe he uses humbuckers? Maybe he plays bass?
Trish has got the phone for the weekend so no demo.

i had one of these that i could never get to sound just right. i loved the wide sweep, but i liked the sound of my crybaby better.
although, mine was too bright. even after several capacitor swaps.

I cut the rubber feet off the bottom of Crybaby's cradle - it added a bit more bass and treble sweep (apparently Hendrix did this but I cant' verify because my mate said so and I just believed him). It actually made the switch a little too easy to press and annoyed me. Anyway, my point is, do the rubber feet look too long? Has something in the physical aspect of the pedal been changed?

It's just the starting angle of the pot - it's adjustable, but before I set it to something more like my Carlsbro (= rebadged Colorsound) I wanted to check with the guy how he likes it.
This exercise also reminded me that unlike most pedals, for Colorsound the battery is on when the amp lead is in.

mine was true bypass. i don't know if that was stock or not. i ended up throwing away the switch 'cause it was screwy.
it also came with nasty decomposing foam to hold the battery in place. took the better part of an afternoon to clean out.

Yeah, that's stock. I think it's the original foam in my Carlsbro, this Colorsound had no foam and the battery clip had been replaced. Plus he's lost the AMP/INSTRUMENT label and the rubber mat's held on with loops of sticky tape. but it works OK.

I had an old bean-can Colorsound Wah, it was ace. Way better range than the Dunlops imo. Had a Carlsbro too, but that was pure gash.
