Its probably just for the Japanese market. It has that japanese writing watermark over the image which makes me think its from a japanese store and they have loads of colour and hardware options there as we know.

This.

You can also see the 'Made in Japan' or 'Crafted in Japan' printed just above the butt of the neck where it screws into the body.

just because the pickups have visible pole pieces doesn't mean a guitar has been refinished.

This is the only hit I can find for any Japanese mustang being offered in surf green. I'm pretty sure they never offered the 69 RI in surf green, even in Japan.

that debate always weirds me out. "visible pole pieces" seems so "amber switch tip" to me. i don't mind them on strats & teles yet don't miss them on 'stangs and duos. i thought the cyclone ii's with EIGHTEEN VISIBLE POLE PIECESESES still looked rad, and it's essentially a mustang w/ jag pickups.

i think stangs look great without them, and fine with them. strats look silly without them and dope with them. jags or jag pickups themselves look stupid without them. it's like a trademark on certain ones, but i don't think it's a deal breaker. it's like a $5/10 minute fix if it bugs you.

I always liked the look of EMGs and Laces.
