NGD - Gordon Smith GS-1

Well not really NGD, I've had it a couple of weeks but I don't have a camera, had to nick my girlfriends. I'd been looking for a Gordon Smith LP Jr. type guitar for a few months and this popped up locally on Gumtree so I decided to go for it. I'm used to playing a Mustang so I was a bit worried about the neck, it's a lot flatter and a little bit wider but I'm getting along with it surprisingly well. This thing is so light compared to my Mustang, absolutely loving it.

There is a mark inbetween the pick up and pickguard where the guy who I bought it off used to put his thumb (he was a finger picker). The body has a few dings all over but I've always been fond of imperfections on guitars.

That's a nice guitar! What kind of pick up is that?

It's Gordon Smith's own brand humbucker. They wind them themselves donchaknow. On wooden bobbins, if memory serves.

Nice, that is a decent match on the mahogany as well. A lot of their natural models have a streak running through the grain or the two piece bodys look almost two-tone.

I'd be cautious about that being neck heavy (if that bothers you) but otherwise it's a treat. Good score OP.

Nice guitar, not to fussed on the GS-1 but love the SG types they do and the basic natural finishes.

12 string though? Quite a bit of difference in weight, plus the strap on the back of the heel might make a difference so I thought at least

You could be right, the neck will be chunkier you'd assume.

Very nice, I have a double cut GS1, they are quality guitars.

I'd have quite liked one of the double cuts but they seem to be harder to come by.

Someone get that 12 string! I've been jonesing for a 12-string for ages now but I'm all spent up.
