I need a new bridge pickup for my mustang with jag trem, and i wanted something with "more balls". Something that sounds good with big muffs and low power chords and sludge! I know little about pickups, so help me out! Probably a hb would be the better choice? i have some mexican strat pickups in the guitar.

I don't want active.
Single i guess it would be better, i wouldn't have to cut the pickguard. But humbuckers are suppose to have more note definition with lots of distortion, or am i wrong? don't really know that much about pickups...
With the strat single coil i have there i have to much "fart sound" if i have the bass where i want it to be. Does this make any sense?!

I've been eyeing up a SJAG-2 for my Jaguar for sometime now.

Not much in the way of sound samples but going by what I've read, it appears to be a fuller sounding pickup with some more grunt.

the texas specials are a good single coil. there's also the fender noiseless and lace sensors. jag pickups are pretty nice, too. these are the singles i have had a lot of experience with (once you throw the generic stock ones you get). gfs makes some great options as well.

If your looking for more balls out of a single coil, i'd go with a Seymour Duncan QP for Jag.

he's got a mustang, so i am not so sure that pickup will fit his route or pickup guard.

The guitar is actually routed for humbuckers.

Robroe has got Jaguar pickups in his Jagstang and one of his many Mustangs I believe. Aswell as that Duo Sonic he sold me had a pair of Jaguar pickups at some point aswell.

It shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Yeah there is a little difference in size but it's at the .01" mark which shouldn't be too drastic.

my next purchase is going to be a GFS fatboy neck pickup its huge as fuck
you could stuff that in there easy in a humbucker route
the bridge pickup is rated at 10K, not sure what this neck pickup is rated at...but they stuck fucking PBass pole pieces in a guitar pickup

I like SJAG-2s and have one in my Lindert. They are a still a Single that clean up nicely but quite hot and they work well with pedals like the Big Muff.
Hot Rails and Jr's will push valves better but can sound muddy with Fuzz pedals.

I'll second Robs GFS choice as well, them pups sound great. Reading a bit about that stuff lately, apparently Alnico 5 magnets boost your mids so appear much more 'punchier'.

Bareknuckle Trilogy Suite or Sinner will give you a whole load more grunt!
Have a TS in my Strat and Sinner in my Jag. They handle distortion superbly.
