the car stereo i put in my old car had a USB input on it that you could plug in a cheap 10 dollar jump drive and control that shit.
my wifes new car has a usb jack in the arm rest that you can control with the stereo. again using a cheap 10 dollar jump drive.


now the stereo in my subaru has a shitty 1/8" jack on it. so im thinking i need a small dongle lookin thing with a 1/8" male end cord coming out of the ass end of it and a usb female plug on the other end that you can plug any old 10 dollar usb jump drive into it.

it doesn't need to be some kind of fucking hi tech stereo shit. just something with a play button and a folder up and down button on it to browse albums.
it could theoriticaly be used with any stereo with a 1/8" jack aux jack, and use disposable cheap usb jump drives.

does this shit exist ?

yeah, you're going to need an ipod or like-minded device. something with digital to analog converts and play/stop/forward/back
you might as well get something with flash storage built in.

A little $20 MP3 player would do ya.

it wont work because only audio goes through an 1/8" jack so there is no way to access the drive.

it would have to be something that you plugged the drive into, had file/song browser on it and then could be plugged into the car stereo 1/8" jack. someone might make something like that but it is pretty much pointless because it's essentially the same thing as a small budget MP3 player except without the ability to store any songs. I would look on eBay, there's a lot of companies that make weird electronic devices like that on there.

Surely all you need would be a cheapo mp3 player and a cable from the headphone out into the jack input in the stereo? No?

quite a lot of similar products out there like this. mp3 players that plug into a usb port.

these things are all in one units. i want something i can plug many different usb sticks into.


say my i go pick up nate at his house and he's got all this boot legged shit, instead of me going up to his room and shit, sticking these devices you are all posting into his computer and downloading them to it, nate can just jump in my car with a cheap ass memory stick of his own and plug it into my unit and take off
