Hello everyone!! New to the forums, obviously, and I currently await my (used) Duo Sonic. Some pics from the seller:

A question please - Now, I have played these before in the shops and I know the neck profiles on these and the other CV's. I'm ok with the neck profile, but I am a huge fan of chunky C necks. My current favorite neck profile is the All Parts TMO-FAT which I have on a Tele. Does anyone know of any sources for a 24" conversion neck with a beefy profile such as the TMO-FAT? From what I understand, 24" conversion neck'd guitars can also use a 25.5" scale neck, but my whole reason for going with the Duo Sonic was to get that cool, short scale:) Anyone? Thanks.

Uh, I think the topic has been discussed before and I think the only other neck I thought might work, the Jagmaster neck, will not work on these.

the mim 90's 22.7" neck can work on these.

but that is about it..

i'm not sure why the jagmaster neck won't... as they are the same demensions.. (i've measured them both..)

that neck on the duo is pretty chunky. if you like them chunkier than that, a conversion duo-sonic is not the guitar for you.

If I ever own another one of these, I am going to stain the neck darker.

I quite like the pale necks. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the replies everyone. As stated in the OP, I can manage with the stock Duo neck fine - I just prefer them thicker. I was curious if Warmoth had a conversion neck that would fit as I believe they make 24" scale necks...

Yeah, I don't think the Warmoth conversion necks work because they are made for Strat bridge positions, and I recall something about the Duo not being the same distance from the neck pocket as a Strat. Someone else with a Duo care to chime in or measure that shit?

Actually, dude, when ya get yours can you measure from the bottom of the neck pocket to the bridge so we can settle this issue?

a standard start neck would work on that guitar . . .

so their 24.75 conversion neck should work. it'd be a standard gibson scale but that's as close as you're going to get with that chunky of a neck.

Are you sure? I asked about this very thing a while back and was told that pretty much you cannot swap most necks onto the MIM Duo.

I have measured it before when I had one. the measurements work out fine. the only thing is that the neck sits farther in on the body of the duo-sonic so you may have to re-drill the holes on any neck you swap onto it.

just for further clarification.....

yeah I measured this a couple years ago when I had one of these. if you move the duo saddles closer to the end of their travel (they have a really long range of adjustment) it is the same distance from saddle to neck pocket as on a strat. the only difference is that the neck plate position in relation to the neck pocket on a duo-sonic body is different than a strat. so you would have to drill the holes in the correct location on the neck. if you were just getting a new neck from warmoth you would probably have to drill the holes anyway so it really wouldn't matter.

conversion neck thread

There is another good conversion neck thread you can look for in the search: short scale forum.

You can swap the neck from the conversion neck jagmaster into it. Also the conversion necks from the SX 24 inch scale guitars will work. The Sx conversion neck is 1.5" at nut and chunky.

edit: other thread

ends quite famously swapped the jagmaster neck onto the duo.

Okay, I am wrong then. Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Clarification appreciated. Them SX necks are nice and chunky so that is surely a candidate. Warmoth would most likely be the one so no worries about holes to match up - just drill as needed...

his was on a MIM duo. different scale, different bridge position.

eh? I'm pretty sure it's a different scale, same bridge position. they just have "conversion necks" of different lengths. here is the CV duo neck, next to a jagmaster neck:

they are the same. so surely the bridge position must be similar? the CV seems to me like it was definitely built with the 90s guitar as a base. you can tell because of the unique body and pickguard shape.
