lel @ whammy bar
also, is that a super distortion in the bridge? where are the specs on this thing? and why no contours

no contours because its a 65RI (or MG65 in japan) with a humbucker in it.
65RI's are slab bodies, 69RI's are contoured

Yep. Those are badass.

so it's a jagstang with the bridge pickup properly mounted so it doesn't get super bassy. those guitars would have sold way better if they'd set them up this way.

It is a special order made for a japanese retail store: HMG65/DBL(Daphne Blue)

you ever thought about how many of these things japan has to sell to keep making them? and who are their biggest customers? are japanese rock stars playing shrtsacles in greater numbers than the states, or the world? i'm actually curious about this because it seems if there was a market, fender corporate would invest more in it. . .

i wonder why they dont make new guards for them? they just route the original one for a humbucker so theres extra holes.
idk about everyone else but if your buying a new guitar you would probly prefer it didnt have the old single coil holes.
i mean it wouldnt really bother me them being there but still.
i think they do the same thing for the "cobain" models but with a tunomatic also

not to be racey, but japanese dudes are pretty small and might prefer a wee guitar for comfort

IIRC Mustangs popularity in Japan is what made Fender reissue them in the first place in the 80s

I fucking LOEV fender japan. It is not fair. It doesn't help me unhealthy obsession with japan at all.
I love the country silly, and they happen to magically love MUSTANGS AND REISSUE THEM LIKE EVERYDAY. I must live there.

They hate foreigners, dude.
I hate Fender for not letting us just fucking import Japan stuff. Back when they could export them, the prices were a lot lower because they could sell more of them. Now, demand is still huge, but the supply is cut back, so the prices are higher.
Especially when Fender does not produce the same goddamn products here.

Maybe it is the japanese version of a "pawn shop" guitar. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio DP-100.
Here is another cool Mustang from Japan
MG69/CO/CPO(Capri Orange!)

mustang's are smaller and thinner than other fenders and the edge routing is very round. it's fine if they are contoured but it's not like an imperative. they will be very comfortable guitars with or without contouring.
...and yes, fender japan reissued them starting in the 80s. they haven't made them in america since the company was bought from CBS. I think fender japan is making all the mustang models recently because they must be getting squished by fender america entering the japanese market. the only thing they can really beat them at is mustang's because fender america doesn't make them.

+ five billion
Complaining a Mustang doesn't have contours is like complaining there's no weed on the space shuttle.
