My Christmas present(it's on "Lay-A-Way").

Very nice guitar!! I have a LPB swinger currently. the base coat is probably metallic silver.westtexasred wrote:This one is a little beat-up so It was cheaper than all the others I have seen for sale recently. Interesting color too: Candy Apple Red over (Shoreline?)Gold).
Thanks! Do you have a photo of yours? I would love to see it.Sven wrote:Very nice guitar!! You love them.A_saVANT wrote:I have never been able to figure out if I love or hate Swingers.
I've owned a few with silver underneath, apparently fender used both base colors for CAR.Thomas wrote:I know someone who has a CAR compstang, it's got a stock gold undercoat too.
a lot of CAR is red over silver.robroe wrote:that's because that's how you make CAR. red over gold.
I think this one's one of the competition blue Swingers, which used the same blue as the Competition Mustangs, minus the stripe.ZenJenga wrote:^^^looks like LPB, but it's hard to tell with the stage lights.
I don't have anything CAR I just felt like chiming in to say:stewart wrote:My Jag and Coronado have gold undercoats (both CAR, obviously). Dated oct '66 and jan '67 respectively, so quite close together. Perhaps they used different undercoats in different periods?
I read an article or something on the gold/silver debate not too long ago but can't find it; from what I remember, different eras had different under coats but it changed back and forth a couple of times and it was uncommon to find undercoats that didn't match the 'norm'. I'm guessing they would run out of one color on the line and just switch to the other if need be, but everything I say is nothing more than speculation.stewart wrote:My Jag and Coronado have gold undercoats (both CAR, obviously). I'm in danger of becoming the CAR guy. The CAR guy is a dick.
