How much is a 1958 Flying V worth?
A guy brought a '58 V to my friends store yesterday. Not to sell it just to get an appraisal. Apparently the guy is the original owner and the guitar has some issues. For one thing the guy sent the guitar back to Gibson in 1968 and at that time they refinished it in the same natural Korina finish. Also,he had them add a vibrola and they drilled through the V tailpiece to install it. Another thing is it still has the original tuners on it and the keys are all crumbling. I don't know how much my friend appraised it for. What do you think it would be worth?

They are so rare that an original in nice condition can approach six figures. I don't know about that one with all the changes, even if they are factory. The top prices paid are by collectors and they are usually look for unmolested examples.westtexasred wrote:A guy brought a '58 V to my friends store yesterday. in 1958 Gibson made 81 models, and only 17 in 1959.

Here's an example of a 1958 from Gruhn Guitars that was sent back to the factory. It doesn't say what the final sale price was.
