It took serious willpower on my part to not post this earlier.

see i don't know how fender keep screwing up Daphne Blue and Sonic Blue.

Those MG-65 mustang reissues in DBL, are def not daphne blue more like a really weak faded sonic blue. That swinger pictured is what i imagine the "real" daphne blue to be.

Although there is this:

The Jagstang is something all together more bizaro, i have a 97 jag-stang that same original aqua color, its meant to be "Sonic Blue" and was sold as "Sonic Blue" but is some kind of aqua shade unique to Jag-stangs of that era. The later 2005 jag-stang reverted back to the real Sonic Blue shade:

Here is a Jag-Stang in the Real Sonic Blue:

Fender Japan now thinks this is Sonic Blue, its way too neon i think

it's baby blue... don't you know that

Ohh... tell me more about FinishMaster products, nitrocellulose lacquer or poly... never heard of that company before

What about aging & checking? Robert swore up and down, his Jagstang has aged & is checking. I refuse to believe that poly can check like lacquer, it may crack but definitely not check. And how is poly aging vs nitrocellulose lacquer aging different. Obviously when you pull off a poly finished guitar pickguard that is old, you will see a difference in color... is that fading or aging?

I love the classic player sonic blue where it almost looks like white, with aid of a mint pickguard (& black back drop)

there is a picture of Ike Turner playing a sonic blue strat in that fabulous Fender book that came out last year and it is easily the winningest strat i've ever seen.

I thought Sonic blue was just an approximation of Faded Daphne blue?

Fender made an Ike Turner signature guitar for a brief time.

All these blue colors photograph weird. So just because you see photo of one guitar and think that's the perfect color doesn't mean it's even that actual color.

Good collective point on the ambiguity of teh blooz.

I still don't know what color my CIJ Jag (currently hibernating under the bed in SoCal) is, though I am beginning to feel more convinced that that it's Daphne Blue, if not a dark shade of Sonic. I'm also likely confused.
