yeah, I hate string trees. I mean, you start with two and next thing you know you have a string forest.
love it. I want to own a maple-stang again someday. Only stang I ever really liked.

and i just do not like natural finish on electrics to begin with. at least stain the damned thing or do some translucent bit with it.

the lower cutaway? isn't it "fucked up" on both cutaways? but I would think more so the upper. anyway, I kind of like them like that.
agree about the string trees though. pointless G/D stringtree is pointless.

They cause two problems while rectifying zero problems.
I don't know why Fender haven't pushed that sunken-headstock/staggered string peg thing that eliminates trees like on the EJ model a little more, it's clever and it looks/sounds/feels better to me... It's also truer to George and Leo's original 6-in-line design. I'd like to see something like that being pushed on us instead of sticking '90s Mexican Standard necks on everything like they're doing now.

Yeh, it's the upper horn that got nubbed in the 70's. Only reason why I got rid of my 2-face Mustang. Lower horn should be identical.

Cool, I can't wait to see the finish product. Been flipping thru "My Pictures" in my comp and kept coming across your guitar, that paint on it looked so WET.
Sweet work area!
Here's a better pix of it... it's a tight 16' x 20' shop. I'm gonna break it all down in 2 weeks, coz I had moved out. Hoping to move into a 32' x 32' shop *crosses his fingers*.
