New KC Jag Project...need a bit o help please

I'm going to be building a Jag based on KCs but IMO better than that new overpriced MIM.

It'll have a Jag HH Special body due to the TOM bridge
Plates off an actual KC sig MIM
DiM pups per the original

The one problem I'm having is my fave neck maker Warmoth can't do a bound 24" neck. Can I put a 24.75" neck? What would the implications be.

Thanks!

It'll be out of tune.

I can see how the intonation may be a bit off but out of tune? I don't think so.

If the intonation is off, it will never be in tune.

First off, those Warmoth necks are conversion necks, meaning they are only 24.75" with a normal Strat bridge position. Meaning, a standard Jag has the bridge closer to the body than a Strat bridge, meaning it will never be able to intonate and thus will never be in tune.

Contact Guitarmill. They can generally do anything, including special options like the smaller strat headstock on the Jag scale neck. The neck does come with an extra nub on the curve of the headstock so that they do not violate the Fender trademark that can easily be sanded off to make it "proper".

Cool thanks. I looked at GM but I'm really partial to W. Think I'll just stick with the plain neck. Chances are a custom bound GM neck would to outta my price range anyway.

My brain scans KC as King Creosote not this guy.

Also listen to Pens on conversion necks.

i dunno mate, Pens has given a pro tip - Why warmoth when a) they can't be flexible to do what you want and b) they are renowned for taking forever?

Ahhh yes I didn't see the bit where you said a custom GM neck was out of your price range - apologies! But surely worth saving up the extra bones for to get what you want!

A bound Warmoth neck would be as expensive as a GM neck, except it doesn't even exist. GM is cheaper and more flexible than Warmoth in every way.

Sorry, I just really don't like Warmoth after I talked to them on the phone, all of their work is CNC which is why they are so particular about options, which means they waaaaaaay overcharge for it.

Don't Flex do a bound 24" scale neck?
