Boosts.

I've been using my Mole bass booster before the Big Muff Tone Wicker but I've read that sticking the boost after the distortion sounds better. I've not tried it (my board is at the practice space) but would this apply to the bass booster too? Should I give it a go? And why is this the case?

I'd say putting the boost before the fuzz gives you fuzzier fuzz with no appreciable boost (but I do this to equalise the output from the Strat with the output of the Flying V). Putting it after the fuzz gives you the same degree of fuzz but louder (assuming a clean-ish amp).

Afterwards will have a more pronounced EQ effect (its a bass booster, rather than a volume boost right?) as the characteristic and compression of the Muff will overpower the boost's EQ somewhat. Kinda why two entirely different guitars (and respective clean sounds) can sound pretty similar through the same fuzz/distortion.
