Epiphone ES-339...

Talk about high expectations but from the specs sheet it looks like a contender for my favorite cheap semi-hollow ever.

How pretty is that? I think the smaller and lighter body (compared to a 335-style), built-in coil splits, and D-profile neck (slim 60s?) all sound like absolute winners to me, and the $499 price tag is very reasonable, and it still looks super classy and doesn't look oddly shrunk like the Wildkat does.

Boner time.

Very interesting...

I've never played one of the Gibson 339's, but was always intrigued by the smaller body size.

Any other colors?

Might have to make a pilgrimage to GC to evaluate.

Thanks for the tip!

Natural, Cherry, and Vintage Sunburst are the only three available colors:

The only thing that puts a damper on things is the fact that these things are an odd size and a case isn't included. :(

I'm not sure if they're available right now.

Oh dang, that vint burst looks nice. The TOM is angled so I couldn't just string one lefty and get it to intonate, though.

Isn't the Epi Dot like 100 bocks cheaper? Same guitar minus some size = 100 dollars more?

Doesn't exactly work like that, though, does it? If it was about cost, Teles should cost less than Strats. The Dot is old as hell, the ES-339 is more of a newer guitar and I'd imagine if it proves popular, they'll introduce it at various price levels (339 Studio? 339 Flat Top?). I think it's a winner regardless. $499 puts it on par with guitars such as Epiphone Les Paul Standard, and it does have splittable pickups, which is kind of unusual for an entry level guitar.

I hate Epiphone but amongst the best Epiphones are the hollow bodies. I love the the Gibson 339s... so this one is still really tempting considering I have little cash. They're just really comfortable compared to 335s.

Maybe a little fret dress, and this would be a winner... and a pickups swap perhaps.

If I sell enough Epiphones at work there is a chance I can get one of these for free !!! Got to sell 10 Epiphones a month and I'm near enough on track.

I love the Epi dots and Casinos. I've never played one I didn't like.

damnit, between this, the cyclone, and squier jazzy, there are some steals on brand new below $500 guitars.
