I´m building a ´63 musicmaster and try to figure out the wiring with a hot rail and a standard single coil. At the moment the hot rail is soldered as a single coil.
- is this toggle switch on the diagram a standard Paula toggle? seems like a 2 level switch..

- the 2 single coils have the same direction, the neck PU looks not reverse wound, bacause their both black wires have the same direction.

Yeah they're showing a double throw switch there, which I've never seen on a 3-way of that sort. That said, ignore the other side.
Also, if you were to use a 5-way switch, you could have these as your five positions:
Bridge humbucker, Bridge Hum + Neck, Neck, Bridge Split + Neck, Bridge Split

That diagram looks weird to me, is it wired in series or something?
I would use the diagram on
page 6 from here.

well, when I use the DS wiring, I never get TWO pickups, just bridge or neck, even in middle position theres only the neck.
..same with a 2 HB, 1 vol, 1 tone, toggle- schematic, only less hum.
I guess thats the reason why a melody maker has separate vol and tone for each pickup. so, maybe theres only one alternative, to use a Tele switch..
I´m just wondering if a standard DS wiring works with selection of bridge, both and neck.
or maybe an ON-ON-ON-switch?

I had the same problem with the SD DS wiring diagram. I think that their switch is different or something, IE not on/on/on maybe? What I did was use the tele-style like previously mentioned by AddamInsane and then this link shows how to wire it to the on/on/on toggle. The problem is that you have to use both sides of the switch and then bridge the middle terminals with the output wire (to the volume pot).

I found a foto of a Music Master wiring, they really used a strange switch originally..
I´ll try a 3way or 5way-tele switch, as I dont know exactly now what PU combination I´ll use at the end( for split, series, parallel etc) .
At the moment I have 2 Stratocaster PU in it, the sound is much better than the humbucker..
this body SWINGS..
sapele wood sounds MUCH better than poplar.
