Seriously considering assembling a telemaster... but first of all I want to try get a neck sorted and go from there. Body shouldn't be a problem.

So.... is there any recommended suppliers in the UK that sell decent necks ?

thanks
Owen

I got a Telecaster neck from Axes-R-Us.
Mine is 1 piece maple, glossy, apparently late '50s spec, drilled for klusons.
It is a little chunkier than I'm used to, and the stain is a little dark for my taste, but cracking value for money at about £100.

They look ideal actually ... stupidly, I never considered them for necks despite having used them a few times.

Might be in touch for a body at some point.

is a telemaster a tele neck and duo/musicmaster body?

if so,

i thought about making a stratamaster.. like a baritone. but just thought, i would not play it very much.

I've never really liked the look of telemasters before but that one is lovely.

I like it because it incorporates the best features of my 2 favourite guitars, be daft not to give one a whirl.

Would love to try one but I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon, I'll either build or find a homemade one for sale.

Would love to see a Squier or mexican/japanese version.

There were a few cheaper branded copies going around, any know if these are available in the UK ?

ding ding ding. hence the name.

neither jazzmaster nor telecaster is shortscale, so i would think a combination of the two would not shrink the scale length.

well, for some reason i was thinking musicmaster.

so the body would have to be made from scratch? because of routing.... are the contours on the "master" body a pain when you have no reference?

it is very cool... i am digging it.....

great, thanks guys... now i want one... :)

the contours are the same as on a jazzmaster. the only difference is the neck pocket, and the pickup/control routing, and string-through bridge.

and the pickgaurds look different on these.. the pink is higher on the horn, unlike a tele PG.

i was talking about contours if you dont own a jag/jazzmst

it would be cool to reproduce it. wear and all...

this is a cool thread about building one:

My tech gigs with one regularly, he loves it. The only changes he did to it were replace the knobs. It's this one.

USD$200 + $115 shipped to the UK... 206 quid, doesn't sound too bad.

so back to building one of these, is the neck pockett cut differnt for the tele neck? so the body would have to be build from scratch? or buy one without the neck pockett already cut....

and are the PG's a custom cut?
