I've been jonesin' for a cheap acoustic. But down here, they're not too easy to find, since the majority of acoustic guitars sold here are either classical (and I'm not a fan of fingerboards wide enough to land aircraft on), or ridiculously expensive/overpriced.

Well, I found this for $100 in the classifieds today :D

An Ibanez AEG10 in transparent purple. Serial number says it was made November 2002 in Indonesia, so it's an '03 model.

I drove 2 towns over to see it in person. It played nicely (although the action needs to be lowered ASAP), the neck had a nice feel, and when I plugged it in, the sound was quite lovely. I accepted the offer, and for $10 more also bought a beat up, but matching Ibanez hard case.

As an acoustic, it's not the loudest one out there, but it's not very deep, and it's a cutaway... so there's not much space for noise. The sound leans a bit trebly, but I've got no beef- for $100, I don't expect a Martin.

Here's a few pics. It goes to my tech tomorrow to have the action lowered.

Live a little and experiment. Give your tech the day off.

That one is a Custom Shop '69 Reissue. I don't think strats had black guards in'69.

One hint on the Ibanez acoustics. Use a right angled chord into the guitar if oyu are gonna play it live very much. The design of their input is lacking a bit and if you put a straight chord out of it, the chord likes to dropp a little bit eventually it will start getting staticy or not working at all.

I had 2 that both did this and I know of at least 2 other people that had the same issue. A rt angle cable does not stick out like a straight and is less affected by gravity and the chord moving around as you are.
