How hard would it be to do a couple of frets on a one piece maple neck? What tools would I need? Bear in mind i am a total NOOB about this and really don't want to shell out for the CRAZY rates people in NYC charge to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

NVMD, I think a fret redress would address it.

I am putting missing frets into a maple neck right now. Well, I have to buy some fret wire. I looked on STOOMAC to figure out how.

I think you would at least need a soldering iron to heat the fret, a fret puller or something similar, Titebond glue, plenty of 220-330 sandpaper, a drill press or dead blow hammer, and some tiny files.
