Jag-stang for G&L Tribute S-500, Is it worth it?

Friend offered me a trade, for a G&L S-500, tribute series, to get my Jag-stang, both are great players, but I just like the 25.5 inch scale more than the 24 inch on the Jag-stang. I've also been jonesing a lot for a strat recently, but the Jag-stang was(and if it sounded more to my liking, still is) one of the guitars I've always wanted, so, should I take the offer?

I wanted a Jagstang for years, I had a little fender catalogue when I was a kid ('94 or ''95) and lusted after one.
I got mine a few years back, it introduced me to shortscale guitars.
I got a Bronco and never really played the Jagstang again.
Sold it and don't miss it as a guitar at all. I sometimes miss it from a 'collectors' viewpoint though.

Jag-stang is no longer in production; G&L still is. I'd keep the Jag-stang and save the cash for a used G&L later on.

I'd put money on the G&L being a nicer guitar, but unless you're talking about items that aren't particular easy to sell you pretty much have to go on the second hand value. If you're both happy with the guitars you could go with the G&L plus $100 for the jag-stang but you'd be unwise to do a straight swap.

Perhaps the best way is to imagine what you could sell your jag-stang for (consider the condition, variable prices, etc.) and how much you could buy a similar model G&L for (consider colour, availability, the spec you'd want). Then factor the inconvenience of having to sell and then buy compared to a simple trade, and adjust the price difference down a little from there but keep in mind your friend also gains in convenience so don't adjust too much.

it's all about resale. if you can move the g&l at an equal or higher price easily down the road, then do it. the Tribute series are their lower line.

Yeah, I think I'll keep the Jag-stang, and I'll be hopefully able to purchase the 70's modified strat in a couple months. I'll try adjusting the bridge pickup some more to see if I can get a more crunchy sound, and maybe finding a way to non permanently hard-tail it. It'd probably be way easier to be hardtailed than a strat-style trem, and easier to find fitting parts for. Any advice on making the stock humbucker better?

i replaced mine with a sh4 and use the switch for coilsplitting. its great.
