It's been few months i'm thinking about a handy stage guitar.
I'm using my mustang in my band Surfer Rosa (myspace.com/surfer.rosamusic).

my perfect stage guitar is:
- one brigde pickup: i have a 74' pickup from a musicmaster bass
- no switches 'cause i beat on them, i found a special pickguard on ebay from Jeannie P
- tremolo (i'm waiting for a mustang style)
- short scale neck: this one from a 95' mij mustang
- matte black body (i bought from FenderBob but made by Niksureal)

at the end, it's a half price than a new fender RI mustang and with the specs i want.

I used a Bronco Wiring Diagram.
For the moment i put a Duo Sonic bridge. I'm waiting for a mustang tremolo bridge.
It sounds good and intonate perfect (despite of the saddles!!!). I've a big twang like a telecaster, very strange.
The pickguard screws miss.

Very nice. Single pickup guitars are a favorite of mine.

That is pretty much my ideal guitar, i love single pickup guitars, i'm a simple soul and the fewer buttons to confuse me the better! :D

Panpan, the Mo dick-style cutouts come from Robert(original)'s bandsaw being set too low to the ground for me to be able to see clearly where I was cutting. As a result, I took a chunk out. I figure it gives the guitar character and a bit of a cool story (and some easily recognizable features if it's ever stolen).

Werd. That's coo then. I just didn't know if the pic was pulling tricks on the street corner.

most of us only use one pickup.... and have the idea on something basic and handy.

after a couple of gigs, ths guitar gonna start to be relic. Very very thin gloss on it.

yes, the duo bridge is awesome but, stupid me, i reallly need a trem to play my songs.

and sorry it's crappy, the guitar is routed for a mustang bridge trem, i put some tape to hide the holes at the bottom of this bridge.
i think i'll change before this weekend.

some better pictures and a video is coming.

Wait, your's is black? I thought it was forest green like mine. Looks good, man.

Yeah, I realized a while back that I never use the neck pickup except for tuning, so I just started taking it out of my guitars, and realized I never missed it. That is now my standard, also bonus on not accidentally hitting a switch or something while playing.

it twangs like a tele? yeah, maybe bacause it is of ( light and soft) poplar wood and the single coil is just around 5 kOhm, thats no wonder.. 8)

jeannie pickguards are notorious for getting shit wrong, the guitar looks sweet though.

Looks cool, and it's great that you end up with the exact guitar you want. Personally I'd go crazy with just a bridge pickup, as I'm an 80% neck user.

FUCK Jeanie Pickguards. I've never been so bitter about wasting $63 in my life. Something about the way he typed "we had to eat the labor on this one so no bitching if it isn't perfect".

It wasn't. It was pretty far from it actually. But because it was a custom order, it was done outside eBay and getting my money back would have been a losing battle. The tool seriously never learned to measure twice and to cut once.

I put a WD bridge and trem. It doesn't look like my 97' cij mustang.
I loose the twang, i think it was due to the duo sonic bridge and saddles. Now it sounds like a mustang. The sound is more agressive than my blue mustang which has some wizard 69' pickups clones.
The jeannie pickguard not size correctly, but it's ok.

The neck is a 95' mij (on the right). The shape is like a 69 RI but the keys has white plastic like a 65' RI but more rectangular; strange.

I'm gonna put more better pictures later and maybe a video.
I rehearse with today and I have two gigs next week.
