Hi I'm new, brought a Squier CV Duo-Sonic last week and I'm properly chuffed with it.
But I was just wondering will a fender re-issue pickguard fit it?
Also what are people's opinions on what colour suit it
I was kind of thinking red tort but was a bit unsure

Desert Sand + BWB guard = super clean.

Can't say if a reissue guard will fit, though.

Personally i love the gold guard from what i've seen of it.

It's not that I don't like the guard it's just I want it to look a bit different to all the others if that makes sense lol

yeah, like latlat, I am a fan of a black guard on that guitar. I'm not sure what you mean by fender re-issue guard though. you mean the 90s MIM duo-sonic? I think it's likely that it will fit but it will be a little different around the bridge.

Yeh that's the one I meant but the guard I saw was called "re-issue"
Is it difficult to make a pickguard?

As I understand it, turning out a professional looking pickguard involves costly and specialized equipment and a fair amount of experience at using it.

This isn't something I'd imagine anybody would want to get involved with unless they were trying to turn over some kind of profit from it.

Luckily, there are some forum members here that do just that. (cooterfinger, I think) has done some high quality custom guards for use on some projects around here.
It might be worth looking him up, if you can't find anything suitable on the aftermarket.

Not sure about the control plate. The pickguard seems to follow a different profile than the standard Mustang plates and judging from this picture:



So does the route.

At the very least, you'd have to fill and re-drill the screw holes.

The Mustang plate is designed in relation to the pickguard which is designed in provision of the offset contours of the Mustang.
This is likely to cause some problems, as well.

Is THIS the kind of re-issue guard you are talking about?
These are cut for the bridge on the later Duo II models, yours is a 50's design. So you would be left with some unsightly gaps.

If the knobs wont pull upwards with your hands try something like a shoestring wrapped under the knob and gently pull up.

I use a stack of picks. Just shove as many as you can, turn the knob a bit, then shove a few more in there, turn the knob a bit. It'll come right up.
