I am thinking of selling my Super Reverb and getting one of these as the other guitarist in my band uses a Jazzmaster thru a twin and I am using a Jaguar thru my Super Reverb. I think this one would be better than the newest offering since they ditched the rectifier tube on the newest versions. What is the general consensus on these from Jag users? I really like all the sounds I hear from vox and its sonic footprint would hang in the mix in a different spot vs the Super Reverb or am I just stupid?

I play my jazzmaster through a 2007 AC30HW 2x12 with 2 alnico blues so it's not exactly the same amp but its similar enough to the CC. AC30 are amps that cut just cut through a mix, i play in a 3 guitar band with a guitarist with an orange rocker30 head and another guitarist with an old 70's Traynor Twin copy and i was able to sit really nice in a mix. The biggest difference between the CC AND HW that i've noticed when I'm using the channel without the EF86 Tube(which i prefer) is that my amp is a lot brighter and piercing than the CC is. The CC is warmer and more well rounded, but it should be a great amp to compliment the sounds of your other guitarist.

hope that helps

Please try one of the new AC30's with the Greenback speakers!
It's such a great amp!
I have mine since 6 month or so and i really really love the sounds i get out of it!
Very versatile and soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good with my Jaguar or Casino.

Give it a try!

I have an AC30CC2, they get a lot of flack for their reliability but I've never had an issue, and mine's an earlier one.

They sound great and the mods they made with the switches on the top and rear of the amp are pretty cool.

I'd recommend one, especially as they are quite cheap second hand, the one issue I've always felt with the CC2 and not the CC2X, is the the wharfdale speakers sound crap, but I still haven't got around to changing them.

That's the point where the new ones shine! Celestion Greenbacks! Absolutely fantastic!
And i also have still the stock tubes in, no need to change so far...also one big + is that you can easily change the tubes on the new AC30 without removing the whole chassis...combining both channels, very good reverb(level/tone), super nice tremolo(speed/deth) etc, etc, etc...

Yeah I totally dig them. It's on my buy list if I get any insurance money. Get the 1x12 one and upgrade the speakers. Get some Fanes in there.

After doing a little digging, another difference between the C2X the CC2X is that the new ones are made out of MDF and the older ones Baltic Birch Ply. Now I know I definately want to get the older one with the rectifier tube.

ITT: HRP trolls someone posting in their second language, moments later discovering that it is he who is in the wrong.

Amps are combos, silly. Vans, boilers and aircraft are combis.

how so? i'm not trolling. i don't care if it's his second language, or not. how would i have known? he asked.

combo is not a word, nor an abbreviation for anything, specifically "combonation," which is also not a word.. a 2x12 amp is a combination amp/cabinet. a combination.

I've also heard some pretty bad reviews on the new import celestion greenbacks, apparently very similar to the wharfdales. When I get around to upgrading the tubes in my amp, I think I'm going to spring for some speakers too, preferably some old greenbacks off ebay.

Probably because Greenbacks don't sound good until you break them in, and those who have never had them before wouldn't know that, hence the bad rap. AFAIK, many people have compared the brit reissue greens to the MIC ones and they're very similar. Anyways, all of this is off topic, I just wanted opinions on the AC30CC2X(the one with blue speakers) or the AC30tb6 with blue speakers, not wharfdales or greenbacks.
