Worth $78.45 for a new in box unit (got a music 123 price match)?
Never used one, can they sound pretty natural or is it harsh modulation?

I did a "show as many sounds as possible" demo for mine a while back, complete with endless Youtube comment whining.

Ignore "pitchshift" mode and stick to the "harmony" mode- it's not polyphonic but sounds a million times better.

So would you say it's worth that price?

Definitely. It can essentially do chorusing, slightly chorused slapback delay, octaving, intelligent harmonising and a bunch of other stuff. Grab a suitable expression pedal and you've got yourself a Whammy pedal.

Excellent... thanks for the input. And looky looky, I have an unused behringer volume/expression pedal sitting right by my board.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
Can the PS5 be used for chords as well as single notes? What i'm really interested in if whether it can be used for fifths/power chords and octave chords, as that's probably all i'm likely to use it for. If this is answered in Doog's video, i'm going to watch tonight as i'm at work at the mo.

This very thread suggests not.

I did see this but i'm sure i've had non-polyphonic octavers before that could handle some simple chords (5th's and octaves) to a certain degree, just wondered how well this does or if it goes all glitchy.

From what I remember from the one I used to have, it's a bit of a trade-off. One of the modes - the one designed to do multiple notes - sounds warbly and rubbish but the other - intended for single notes only - was very clear and Whammy-ish. The 'artificacting' from trying to cope with strummed chords sounds kinda cool in its own right though...it goes all glitchy and confused, which is undesirable in 90% of situations but fun all the same.
