Pretty damn interesting; saving presets of pickup wiring combinations to the guitar itself. Ultimately I'd imagine it not worth the hassle and expense to 95% of players alas.

I initially thought you could choose individual polepieces but it's just how the software displays coils being in series.

Yeah I remember when this was launched, it's a good idea in theory, but practically I don't see the real benefits over say a Line 6 Variax - cost wise anyway.

But hey it just goes to show how guitar technology is evolving, maybe this is the way forward?

Awwhhh shit, didn't realise the video was like a year old..

The Variax is digital modelling, allowing you to choose from standard LP/Strat etc sounds, whereas this is just rewiring the existing guitar electronics and pickups so the actual outputted signal is totally analogue.

I'd imagine that most guitarists would stick to 5 or 6 presets they dig out the 8 million (or whatever it was) possible combinations, but it's a pretty nice idea I think; pretty cool to be able COMPLETELY change the sounds available from one guitar. Perfect for session guys, for sure.

I'd file this alongside wiring schemes that let you select any coil of any pickup along with any other coil and have them out of phase/ in series/ in parallel - ie. cool for five minutes then just a distraction.
