...although I predict a few of you will faint when you see the price tag - I nearly did. Still, it was very cool; a Jason Smith Masterbuilt "Bronco-Sonic":

Wow, a custom shop student model. Never thought I'd see the day!

I think the finish is surprisingly attractive, almost has a "marbled" look to it. Lipstick pups and the Toronado bridge are a nice touch, very unexpected.

But yes, priced for a "Select Individual."

we all saw it in person before ALBQ.

they had it behind a rope so i couldn't thrash it.

I saw a very small glimpse of this in a picture in an email from fender. I could tell that there was a duo-sonic-esque guitar in the picture, and I clicked the link to their photo gallery but there weren;t any other pictures of it. I was disappointed. thanks for posting this!

dude that made it is stupid, especially for his choice of fretboard material.

color is "trendy milf countertop"

ugh, it does look like a countertop. when you put it that way, far less cool.

The color definitely has some sparkle in it, but some darker specks too, which you don't normally see in 50s era Desert Sand. The pickguard was pretty cool - I liked the root beer color. But I have to agree with Rob - there's nothing "Bronco" about that guitar - it's a Duo Sonic with late 70s era Musicmaster cosmetics in terms of the pickguard shape, etc.

Im pretty sure Jason made a custom shop Red Sparkle Bronco/Swinger variant last year that was going for around 10K at Ishibashi.

Interesting - are there any pics of that one floating around out there? I must have missed it somehow when I was at the Fender booth last year - either that, or they didn't have it on display at NAMM.

I'm looking at the nag in that picture... Reissue of the prototype pictured in the Golden Age?

I love it but it does look almost exactly like my kitchen counter tops. I don't think I spent 8 grand on them either.

I knew the 1 man build custom shop Fenders are expensive but is 8k the going rate? That seems insane.

I think it'll make you a select individual more than 2x's over.

the pickguard is the bronco bit. duo-sonics never had pickguards like that. music master also had a guard like that but it basically originated with the bronco.

nice to have a large head not like the squier cv.
why they don't do a early musicmaster or late duo pickguard? And 3 saddles bridge to have nice stang?
when squier made a duo like this below. The 90's reissue have a too short scale.

and with a green finish like sea foram green, sherwood green, ....
