Snagged an old Rat pedal off craigslist. Sounds crazy through the last owner's Peavey Bandit 112. Haven't had a chance to really play with it at home. Roommate's complaining already and the girlfriend needs homework help.
It's a big box Vintage Rat with no LED and an LM308 chip.
Read somewhere that you can tell the manufacture date by the pots. Can't really tell for sure. Maybe an 83? or 98?
Here's some pics.
serial is 3977 9839

What's everyone's favorite settings? I'll play around with it tomorrow and find something I like.
Also the guy had a natural 78 mustang.

Looks like it's a bigbox 'Vintage RAT' re-issue (1991-2005) rather than the original 1981-1983 version: http://ratdistortion.com/history/
Some other another forum wrote:If there are seven digits, 1378042 on the pot. The first three digits, 137 are CTS’s, the pot manufacturers code. The next four digits, 8042 is the pots production date. So 137 means it was made by CTS, and 8042 means it was made in 1980 in the 42nd week. (8042 is the code when the pot was made NOT of the effect unit.)
Looks like the pots were are '98, so I guess your RAT was made sometime around then!

Enjoy it, gotta love dem RATs.

I like all the knobs between 1 & 2 o´clock.Maybe the filter knob a little more towards 3 o´clock.
Play it through an AC30 (set clean).
